Common questions
Why doesn't my location move underground?
GPS does not reach most stations. Belowtown follows you with your steps and the phone's altimeter and falls back to the timetable. Allow Motion & Fitness access in Settings for the best results.
Are the trains and buses live?
Where the MTA feeds have them, yes (green dot = live). With no signal, the app counts down from the last times it saw and says so, then updates the moment you get signal.
How accurate are the depths?
Track and station positions follow the MTA's own geometry. Platform depths are published for some stations and modelled for the rest, then drawn deeper than life so crossings are easy to see.
Can I use it in my language?
Yes — choose your language on the first screen or any time in View › Language.
Belowtown is not affiliated with the MTA or any transit agency.
